He is a mechanical engineer. He received his engineering degree from the Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering in Maharashtra, India. He has always been interested in environmental and waste management issues. He is very passionate about finding innovative solutions to these problems. The company has developed a sanitary waste disposal and recycling technology that uses UV light to sanitize and disinfect used sanitary napkins and pads. The mission of the company is to provide an environment friendly solution to the issue of sanitary waste management. which is a major concern in India and around the world.
The Problem of Sanitary Waste Management:
Sanitary pads and diapers are both absorbent products. which are made of materials like plastic and super absorbent polymer material. These products have been widely used since the 1930s. But they have not good for the environment.
On average, a single woman uses 100 to 120 pads in their lifetime. And single baby uses up to 5,000 diapers in the first three to four years. In India alone 12 billion pads are generated annually and 98% of them end up in landfills and water. Very few of them are being disposed of in an eco friendly manner. The majority of them take 800 years to decompose. Additionally, the manufacturing process for these products results in 5.3 KG of carbon emissions per pad.
The PadCare Solution:
PadCare Labs provides a variety of products and services including a machine that turns used sanitary napkins into fuel. A sanitary napkin and other hygiene product vending machine. And a mobile app that allows users to request pick-up and disposal of their sanitary waste. PadCare has launched several initiatives:
For awareness: They work with cities to provide information about menstrual hygiene management.
For accessibility: PadCare vending machine, This machine provide self sustaining and eco friendly solution that allows users to dispose of their used sanitary napkins in a safe, hygienic and eco friendly manner without the need for human intervention. The vending machine is easy to use and can be installed in public spaces such as schools, colleges, offices, and hospitals.
For sustainable disposal: They have patented unique technology that allows the recycling of used sanitary pads back into cellulose and plastic called the Phantom Female Hygiene Unit and the Pad Care Processing Unit. This machine can also convert used sanitary napkins into fuel.
